On 15th of June 2010 Saint-Petersburg hold a first Championship among blood donors - «Donor’s games 2010». 15 teams consist of blood donors, nurses and doctors from different blood banks of Saint-Petersburg participated in a wide range of sport entertainment: ping-pong, bowling, pool, darts, roller-skating and laser paintball. More than 170 participants were registered at competition.           
      The championship’s opening speech was given by the chief of the City transfusion center Krasnyakov Vladimir, representative of Youth committee of Saint-Petersburg and heads of blood banks. There were a lot of good words addressed to donors and blood banks employees, officials from Saintt-Petersburg branch of Russian Red Cross congratulated participants with World Blood Donor Day and competitors were actively supporting all speakers.

     After opening ceremony all participants went to different sport yards in a big sport entertainment complex “Leader”, which provided free service for all participants. After a finish of a championship modern dance team made a performance for participants on a main stage of a competition meanwhile judges count points scored by teams on each lap. Almazov Federal Heart, Blood and Endocrinology Center’s team consisted of 20 donors that showed good results for the competition. Finally the title of the most sportive donor’s team was granted to a team from City hospital №15, which now is keeping the challenge cup for a year.

     It is obvious now that such competitions are necessary, and that tradition of getting blood donors and medical stuff together on World Blood Donor Day will be continued. Format of a sport competition is stressing the importance of healthy life style for donors and encourage more young people to take a regular physical exercises. Although the Donor Games 2010 are over, but saying goodbye we are making a promise to meet again next year and we are waiting everyone at the “Donor’s Games 2011”!
