On 1 June, 2011 an Outstanding Event Took Place in Specialized Perinatal Centre of Almazov Federal Heart, Blood and Endocrinology Centre
On 1 June on Children’s Day an outstanding event took place in Specialized Perinatal Centre of Almazov Federal Heart, Blood and Endocrinology Centre – a 28-year patient gave birth. The significance to this event gives a background of the patient.
When Olga was 2 years doctors made a horrible diagnosis of viral hepatitis to her. Due to apparent restrictions her life seemed to be a nightmare. However, in 2006 it turned around. In Saint-Petersburg in “Russian Research Centre of Radiology and Surgery Technologies” Olga was among the first to transplant donor’s liver.
Despite continuous treatment she started to dream about maternity. In 2008 she successfully gave birth to a son. Now he is 3 years and is no different from his peers.
In 2010 Olga understood that she is pregnant again. Only with hepatologists and obstetrician-gynecologists support of Perinatal Centre of Centre she decided on pregnancy prolongation. Owing to some deviations during pregnancy she was hospitalized several times. Nevertheless, on 38 week Olga successfully gave birth to a girl. The girl was
2 kg 820 g with a high score according to Apgar scale and was given a name Ekaterina.

Successful delivery became possible by reason of unique capabilities, techniques and high-tech specialists of Perinatal Centre.
On 14 June, 2011 Olga was discharged from Perinatal Centre. Together with happy relatives camera crews of local TV channels met Olga with a healthy newborn.
