On 7 June, 2011 on the basis of Almazov Federal Heart, Blood and Endocrinology Centre a master-class on “Insulin Talks” for the delegates from Turkey was held together with the representatives of “Medcom Congress” company (Turkey). Master-class was dedicated to insulinotherapy issues, main guidelines to diabetes mellitus treatment and prevention of cardiovascular risk diseases and diabetic foot. Carrying out of workshops, symposiums and master-classes with colleagues from Turkey has become a fine tradition of the Centre and a basis for successful collaboration in various medicine fields.

     Today diabetes mellitus is the most common disease in the world. From its complications enormous number of people die. According to statistics each 20 sec. extremity amputation is carried out because of diabetes mellitus. Even young people have a high a risk of cardiovascular diseases. In Saint-Petersburg the frequency of extremity amputations because of diabetes mellitus is 3 times higher than in Europe. Therefore, experience exchange between specialists from different countries is so crucial. Cooperative discussing of difficult issues enables to see the problem from a new angle, to elaborate common approach to treatment and to establish relations with foreign specialists. 

In master-class the following lectors took part and presented the lecturers:

   The place of insulin treatment in prevention of cardiovascular complications”
3. Dr. Alina Babenko  “Microvascular complications and intensive DM therapy”
4. Dr. Uliana Tsoy “Insulin initiation: from guidelines to real life practice”

Upon completion of master-class an excursion for the Turkish delegates was held in the Centre unit - Institute of Endocrinology.
