For the first time in Russia in Almazov Federal Centre in the context of the V International Scientific Congress “Operative Gynecology - New Technologies” and together with D.O. Ott Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the RAMS a scientific conference on robot-assisted operations in gynecology was held.

 

     The conference consisted of lecture and practice part. The lectures were:

• Professor Evgeny Kira, head obstetrician-gynecologist in Pirogov National Medical–Surgical Centre, head of the department of women’s illnesses and reproductive health of the post-graduate courses (Moscow).
• Professor Samuel S. Badalian, director of the Gynecology and Urogynecology Centre of Syracuse, NY.
• Professor Eduard Komlichenko, perinatology and pediatrics deputy head doctor of Almazov Federal Centre (Saint-Petersburg).   

      The issues of indications and counterindications to robot-assisted operations, instrumentation and preparation of the operating room were discussed on the lecture part. Besides, issues of gynecological operations technique when using da Vinci robot, as well as laparoscopic stitches technique, intra and post operative complications were covered on the conference.

The practice part included the following:

• Interactive translation of laparoscopic hysterectomy on da Vinci robot from Pirogov National Medical–Surgical Centre (Moscow). The operation was led by Dr. Alla Politova, head of gynecology department in Pirogov National Medical–Surgical Centre, the doctor of higher category.
  Professor Eugeny Kira commented the operation.
   
• Interactive translation of laparoscopic myomectomy on daVinci robot from Operating room of Almazov Federal Centre. The operation was led by Prof. Dmitriy Semenov, head of endocrine surgery sector, surgeon of higher category.
  Professor Eduard Komlichenko commented the operation.

     Carrying out such educational scientific and practical trainings guided by the leading specialists both Russian and foreign enable to make the most out of current surgical technologies and improve professional skills.
