Museum of Heart was opened on 25 November 2011

Almazov Federal Centre and all-Russian non-governmental Antihypertensive League announce the opening of the Museum of Heart.
The Museum of Heart is the first museum in Saint-Petersburg and so far the one in Russia. The main aim of the Museum is to unite pleasure with education; tell fascinatingly and plainly about our heart, its work and ways to keep it healthy.
Saint-Petersburg Museum of Heart keeps the tradition of interactive museums that are so popular around the world. Much of the exponents was designed specificallyfor the Museum and has no analogs.
Apart from heart exponents, in the Museum there are items featuring heart anatomy, circulatory system work, and explaining the reasons for cardiovascular diseases.


The Museum does not only tell about heart anatomy, but also shows the reasons for cardiovascular diseases and factors affecting heart. Thus, the visitors will be able to realize staggering health effects of smoking cigarettes and tobacco due to the exhibit items showing tar amount in lungs at smoking the one cigarette vs. one year of smoking. Specially designed glasses will demonstrate the danger of drunken driving as they simulate the perception of reality in the drunken state.


By putting on specially designed costumes named “Overweight” the visitors will be able to feel obesity at different stages and realize the burden of the overweight.


Everybody is welcome to the museum. However, the target audience of the museum is children and adults. Tailored educational programmes for children and lessons by specialists of Almazov Federal Centre for adults are foreseen in the Museum. Almazov Centre specialists will tell about prevention of cardiovascular diseases as well as ways to improve quality of life at such diseases.
